"The People" Group Profile

Physical -
  • Half Aryan, half Native American
  • Varying degrees of pale vs. tanned skin between people
  • Varying degrees of aryan/native American features
  • Vikings generally = blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin, European features (thin faces, big eyes, thin noses, thin lips)
  • Native Americans generally = black hair, dark skin, dark eyes, broad faces, high cheekbones, square jaws, wide lips and noses, slanted eyes
  • Mixture of heights and builds
  • Wears a mixture of native and viking clothes
Personality -
  • Generally a very defeated and depressed group of people
  • Very in tune with nature and the ways of peace and unity of the Native Americans but have lost a lot of these ways as well
  • Can also be very fierce when they aren't scared
  • Very good farmers
  • Kind, good hearted people
  • Caring and loving and selfless
  • Mostly don't believe in the Old Gods anymore (neither the native gods or the norse) - except for the Earth Spirit
History -
  • When Leif Eriksson "discovered" North America in the year 1000AD, he set up a temporary camp, complete with a few buildings where he over-wintered with his crew of Vikings.
  • They traded with the Native Americans and had good relationships.
  • When Leif hears about the Ragnarök occurring in Scandinavia and his people being wiped out, he decides to go back to get all those he can to bring back to Newfoundland to start a new Viking colony.
  • He returns with several hundred men, women and children
  • Over the next couple of hundred years, the vikings and the native Americans (Iroquois?) become a mixed race of people - neither completely the same as they used to be, but combining many of their beliefs, rituals, practices etc.
  • They were a people of lost hope and lost faith who only really maintained faith in what they could see - nature.
  • The old Norse and Indian gods were nothing but myths to them - the old Viking ways of searching for power/fortune/honour was lost
  • They retained a the Native American sense of providing for all people, of equality and peace
  • The group became entirely self sufficient - largely a farming/hunter/gatherer community
  • They were mostly focused in the Alaska part of North America
  • Other groups of Native Indians continued to live in other parts of America, but these were generally of no concern - they had their own ways and governments and while there were sometimes conflicts, none of these groups were much of an enemy to The People
  • When the enemy came to North American shores and set up a massive and powerful colony, The People were at first generally happy to allow the newbies to the land, granted that they kept their place among the Alaskan mountains (after all, that is how the tribe came to be - by having allowed Vikings to settle there)
  • However, once The Governor came and started destroying the land, resources etc and The People realised that he was clearly evil, many of The People started to stand up for their land and for peace. This resulted in bloodshed - those poor folk were swiftly made example of.
  • As a result, The People kept to themselves, hating and fearing the enemy, but too scared to do much else. They were so vastly outnumbered by the enemy that they were completely dominated.
  • The enemy pushed them into a kind of contained community/village which was their only land and where they could constantly be watched and threatened and controlled by the enemy
Motives -
  • To live with as little effect on nature as possible - to live with nature, not to exploit it
  • To live normal as possible lives
  • Some want to stay as out of enemy focus as possible
  • Others want to make war with their enemies
  • To help each other - to share everything
  • To do their part to create a good society
Special Abilities -
  • Farming
  • Team work
  • collecting resources
  • manual work
  • Eventually come together to become a strong army
Weapons -
  • Bow/arrows
  • Knives (hunting/work knives)
  • Don't really have too many weapons to use in combat in the beginning
  • Will develop other weapons over time before the great war
Relationships -
>Each other
  • As a society, they generally care for each other - everyone is equally important. They share everything so there is no "rich" or "poor"
  • Within the group there is basically 2 types of people - those who try to live as out of sight as possible and those who want to create a revolution against the enemy
>Ingrid
  • She is a respected part of the community and their leader
  • She is generally loved and admired by all, but some think that she is weak and should stand up for her people and help them out of their current situation
  • Some think that she is a natural leader and others think that she is a poor replacement for her parents
  • A few are very close to her and help her with her private activities - these people worship her
>Balder
  • At first most are apprehensive of him
  • Very half/half here too - most grow to love him (though his skill with charisma) - especially the members of the clan who want to revolt against the enemy.
  • Others think that he is a disturber of the peace and hate that he is drawing attention to them
>The Governor
  • They hate him with a passion
  • They are scared of him and submissive to him generally
  • Few have stood up against him and none of those have lived to tell their tale
>The General
  • They hate him too, but find in themselves the ability to laugh at him behind his back because he is clearly a kiss-arse
  • They are scared of his unpredictability though and will generally be submissive to him
  • Some stand up against him and his army, but this doesn't usually end well (although they aren't as thoroughly disposed of as those who stand up against the Governor)
>The Varangians
  • They meet this group most often in battle, they are natural enemies
  • However, certain members of the clan find it within themselves to feel something other than hate for this group - some see that they aren't necessarily evil and are just following orders
  • There might be a few interesting love relationships here
  • Members of the enemy who have run away or been exiled are sometimes accepted into the clan
  • These people are sometimes sought out to join forces against the enemy
